Melissa J. Cook – President
As Director of Marketing for International Dairy Queen, the 10th largest restaurant chain in the world, Melissa is responsible for the overall
strategic marketing of DQ’s newest concept DQ Grill & Chill©. This position requires the management of a $5.1 million dollar marketing
budget to ensure an effective development and execution of the marketing calendar and plan. Melissa’s work with greyhounds began with
the adoption of her first greyhound, Aljo Avalanche three years ago. Her work with adoption groups includes event planning,
development of corporate sponsorships, kennel shifts, lost dog searches and general volunteer work. Her vision is to apply her “for-
profit” advertising knowledge to the “non-profit” world to increase awareness, education and adoptions for the greyhound breed. Melissa
currently shares her home with Avalanche and his littermate Aljo on a Safari.
Barbara Redmond – Vice President/Treasurer
Barbara has been a Psychiatric Nurse for 26 years and is Nurse Manager of a psychiatric unit in a suburb north of Boston. She has been
involved with greyhounds for approximately fifteen years which includes five years of service on the Corporate Board for Greyhound
Friends, Inc based in Hopkinton MA. In addition, Barbara has spent many hours volunteering at a kennel on a weekly basis performing a
wide variety of activities. These activities have included transportation, feeding, bathing, medicating, meet and greets, lost dog searches,
and most recently website updating. Her passion is participating in lost greyhound searches because there is no greater reward in
reuniting a lost greyhound with its owner. She is owned by her two greyhounds Rock Star and Klemmgull.
Jennifer Saker – Vice President/Clerk
Jennifer is a graduate of Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism and has experience in writing and
advertising. She has worked for Delta Air Lines for the past 9 years as a flight attendant in Boston, MA. She became involved with
greyhounds after adopting her greyhound, JR’s Quiet Man. She has participated in many searches for lost greyhounds and attended many
social and educational greyhound events and gatherings around the country. Working together with greyhound adoption groups, current
owners and prospective adopters to provide loving homes for the dogs is her highest priority in the area of greyhound networking.
